Geoelectrical imaging

The geoelectrical imaging is a research technique in two dimensions (2D), from measurements taken at the land surface. 

The purpose of this technique is to study the lateral variations in resistivity of the subsoil, and very suitable to detect vertical or inclined geological contacts, mineralization dikes, fractures and / or faults, blocks of rock, contamination by inorganic or organic products and other bodies or structures that present as lateral heterogeneities of this parameter. 

The investigations carried out by the imaging geoelectrical are generally made along the profiles and the results obtained are related through a study from the surface to a certain depth, or even across sessions with multiple depths of investigation.
